Rowney leaves game against Lightning with lower-body injury

The Detroit Red Wings are without forward Carter Rowney once again after he suffered a lower-body injury during Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Rowney was playing in just his fourth game since making his return from a lengthy injury-related absence on Feb. 23. The 32-year-old forward left Friday’s contest early in the second period after blocking a Victor Hedman blast with his shin. During the third period, the Red Wings announced that Rowney would not return as a result of his lower-body injury. Rowney entered Friday’s contest having scored goals in back-to-back games. He has four goals and six points in 27 contests this season, his first as a member of the Red Wings. The Lightning currently lead the Red Wings by a 2–1 score late in the third period of Friday’s game. Robby Fabbri has Detroit’s lone goal in the contest.
