Sabres D Owen Power out week-to-week with hand injury
Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Owen Power is considered week-to-week with an injury to his left hand and will sit out Tuesday's game against the visiting Los Angeles Kings, coach Don Granato said.

Power sustained the injury when he was struck by the puck during Monday's practice.

"It's going to be week-to-week," Granato said Tuesday. "I think in one week we'll have a better idea of how long and what a return would look like at that point. So, week-to-week, and I think the hope (is) that the short end would be a couple weeks."

Defenseman Jacob Bryson is expected to be inserted into the lineup on Tuesday in place of Power.

Power, 21, has recorded 18 points (two goals, 16 assists) in 51 games this season. He is second among skaters on the team in average ice time (22:28), trailing only fellow defenseman and former top overall pick Rasmus Dahlin (25:12).

Power has totaled 56 points (eight goals, 48 assists) in 138 career games since being selected by the Sabres with the top overall pick of the 2021 NHL Draft.

He signed a seven-year, $58.45 million contract with the Sabres on Oct. 11, 2023.
