The Jack Eichel saga has taken a turn.
The Buffalo Sabres star has parted ways with longtime agents Peter Fish and Peter Donatelli and is now represented by Pat Brisson, according to The Buffalo News' Mike Harrington.
Brisson is one of the biggest agents in hockey, representing players such as Sidney Crosby, Patrick Kane, Nathan MacKinnon, Jack Hughes and Cole Caufield.
Eichel's previous agents were trying to work out a trade for the Massachusetts native over the summer. They released a statement in July saying the "process is not working," and they expected a trade to happen before the NHL's free-agency period opened.
Eichel is still hoping to undergo an artificial disk replacement surgery on his neck. However, the Sabres continue to deny his requests to have the procedure, leaving his status for the 2021-22 campaign unknown.
The 24-year-old was drafted by the Sabres second overall in 2015. He has amassed 139 goals and 216 assists in 375 games.
According to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun, the Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers are among the teams interested in acquiring the star forward.
