Yesterday, the Canadiens put Samuel Blais on waivers.
It was reasonable to wonder if he would be claimed by another team… since that has already happened twice since the start of the season.
Reminder: the Habs placed him on waivers in October and the Leafs claimed him. The Habs then reclaimed him after the Leafs placed him on waivers in November…
All this to say that we had to wait until 2 p.m. today to find out if Blais would once again be leaving the habs organization via waivers. And the answer is no, since he was not claimed this time around.
Blais will therefore head to Laval, where he will be able to help the Rocket during the Olympic break and, most importantly, get some playing time.
Everyone from yesterday cleared…no one new https://t.co/LnIS2D1zTd

It should be noted that Blais has not played at all in recent weeks.
The Canadiens are healthy… and that means Blais has been left out of every habs game since January 15. It’s been a long time since he’s seen any action.
But knowing that he hasn’t been claimed is great news for the Canadiens.
After all, Blais can play a certain role in Montreal even though he hasn’t played much in the NHL for the past year and a half. He’s a great insurance policy in case of injuries, and we’ve seen that he can be useful because he brings intensity and toughness to the ice.
His role is to bring energy to the rest of his teammates. And he does it well because he doesn’t complicate things by forcing unnecessary plays.
More details to come…
