Ever since the Oilers' No. 1 goaltender (Frederik Andersen) got injured and the Jets' Connor Hellebuyck publicly requested a trade, goaltenders have been making headlines in the NHL.
And that's to be expected.
As training camps draw nearer, it's only natural to see certain teams putting the finishing touches on their offseason preparations for the upcoming season.
Naturally, all of this brings Samuel Montembeault's name back into the conversation.
Should the Oilers be considered in this scenario? Not according to Marco D'Amico, who says the Oilers don't have room under the salary cap—and may not want to make room for a temporary solution.

We know the Los Angeles Kings also made headlines yesterday regarding the Quebec native. But who else might be interested in signing him?
According to Pierre McGuire, who addressed the topic on Tony Marinaro's Sick Podcast, the Devils should be interested in Monty.
Note: He didn't say there's talk. He said that, given the circumstances, New Jersey is a city that comes to mind when discussing Montembeault's future.
The Devils are going to have to fight for their spot in the playoffs, and it won't be easy. And we can all agree that after trading Jacob Markstrom to Florida, they're going to need another goaltender on the roster.
With all due respect to Jake Allen, he's a #2 right now. And with all due respect to Samuel Montembeault, I don't know if bringing the two goalies together (who know each other well) would make the Devils a playoff team.
Unless they add Cayden Primeau to the mix? #Threesome
In my view, if the Devils want to make the playoffs, they'll need a Connor Hellebuyck (who wants out of Winnipeg and is open to considering several teams) or a Jordan Binnington.
But I'm not sure if that's realistic. The Sabres seem to have the upper hand if a trade were to happen…

– Note.
According to my sources, the #CFMTL will have received exactly $750,000 in GAM from this “round-trip” double trade involving Dante Sealy.
From an accounting standpoint, it's understandable that the club decided to bring Sealy back.

– Is Alexis Lafrenière going to be at the center of trade rumors every year?
