San Jose Sharks Sign UNH Goalie to ATO

The San Jose Sharks are facing the Boston Bruins tonight at the TD Garden as they continue their East Coast trip. The Sharks started off the trip with a 6-3 loss to the Sabres. Tonight, Alex Nedeljkovic will get the start for the Sharks. Yaroslav Askarov will miss tonight’s game with a lower-body injury. The Sharks have signed UNH goalie Kyle Chauvette to an ATO, and he’ll be the backup for tonight’s game. Chauvette is a native of New England, from Goffstown, New Hampshire. He just finished his collegiate career at the University of New Hampshire, where in 34 games this season, he went 13-19-1 with a 2.63 goals-against average, a .902 save percentage, and five shutouts.

Kyle Chauvette

Chauvette spent two seasons in the USHL with the Youngstown Phantoms. In his first season with the Phantoms, he appeared in 18 games, going 4-7-4 with a 4.23 goals-against average and a .856 save percentage. In his second season, he appeared in 37 games, going 15-13-7. He posted a 3.33 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage. He started his collegiate career at Union College, where he spent three seasons. In year one, he made ten appearances, going 2-2-1. He posted a 2.87 goals-against average, a .905 save percentage, and a shutout. In his second season, he made 36 appearances, going 15-16-3 with a 3.05 goals-against average, an .893 save percentage, and three shutouts. Chauvette, in his final season at Union before transferring to UNH, made 35 appearances, going 18-13-3 with a 2.80 goals-against average, a .896 save percentage, and a shutout.
