The San Jose Sharks are re-tooling and are staying competitive while they do it. They have prospects of all varieties, and while they’re not loaded with type A prospects, their development has been so solid that many of these players will see extended NHL time in their careers. Eklund has star potential and could be playing with the Sharks full-time next season.
William Eklund has good two-step quickness, a quick wrist shot. Flawless one-timer, works well with space, and has a strong two-way game. He almost made the Sharks this season. Eklund can play center or wing.
Michigan star, Thomas Bordeleau, is a two-way playmaking center. He is a patent passer who can wait out the defense, and his speed heading into the offensive zone puts defenders on their heels.
Daniil Gushchin has 15 goals in 19 games for the Niagra Ice Dogs. He has terrific speed bursts, and he has a high skill level. He has the vision to make hard passes. He’s a natural goal scorer with a fast release.
Wiesblatt has speed and can play with an edge. He works very hard and gets his offensive chances off his work ethic and his high hockey I.Q. More passer than a scorer.
An offensive defenseman, Ryan Merkley has worked hard on his defense and decision making. He has a great point shot and can run a pro power play. He’s been a real asset for the Barracuda in the AHL.
Scott Reedy played with Brady Tkachuk and Quinn Hughes for the NTDP back in 2015-16. His skating and all-around play have improved. His scoring was always there, and his nine goals early on with the Barracuda shows that.
Chmelevski’s sweet skating style needs more power in his stride His two-way is solid at center or the wing. He has quick zone entries. He reads the play well too. He is marinating in the AHL.
Netminder Benjamin Gaudreau is good but not super fantastic. He did what he had to do in the U18s. He has a good stick and good glove.
Alex Young is fast, versatile, and will go anywhere on the ice to score. He could be a center. Currently, Young gets quality ice time in Colgate.
Tristen Robins is a solid passer and a very good puck handler. He is dangerous in the offensive zone. Having another great year for Saskatoon.
