Gamescom just wrapped up its big Opening Night Live presentation, and nestled among the two hours of video game announcements was a single solitary TV announcement, for a new anthology series from Blur Studio.
Blur Studio, alongside Amazon MGM Studios, have announced a brand-new anthology series coming to Prime Video later this year. The series will consist of 15 episodes, all of which will be based on a different video game. It’s being created and executive produced by Tim Miller, the director of the first Deadpool film and the creator of Love, Death & Robots, so it’s pretty likely to be good.
Amazon says the series will see “gaming’s finest unite,” with “more game IP in a single series than has ever been done before.” That’s a pretty tame claim to make, given there haven’t really been any series like this in the past, but it does have 15 games in it, so it is technically true.
Included in the list of games are a few classics, like Mega Man and Pac-Man, but also more than a few modern IPs, such as Sifu, The Outer Worlds, Honor of Kings, and Armored Core. Here’s the full list, courtesy of Amazon:
The announcement was made alongside a teaser video showing off the series, which is a little difficult to follow, but basically includes a lot of very short clips of the various games being brought to life through the medium of animation. Some of these appear to have different art styles, but for the most part they seem to be using a more realistic style of animation. It looks good, although Mega Man in particular looks a bit off. Take a look for yourself:
Secret Level will be available on Prime Video around the world in over 240 countries and regions on December 10, 2024.
