Senators Acquire Goaltender Jonas Johansson from Lightning

Johansson, 31, joined the Lightning as a free agent on July 1, 2023, and appeared in 70 career games with the club, posting a 32-23-10 record, a 3.28 goals-against average, and a .889 save percentage. In 2025-26, he played 25 games for Tampa Bay, going 11-10-2 with a 3.29 GAA and .884 save percentage.

Since making his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres in 2019-20, Johansson has appeared in 105 career NHL games, with additional stints in the Colorado Avalanche and Florida Panthers organizations. A native of Gävle, Sweden, he was selected by Buffalo in the third round (61st overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft and won a silver medal with Sweden at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The trade comes on the heels of Ottawa losing goaltender Leevi Meriläinen on waivers to the Vancouver Canucks. Johansson has already cleared waivers, clearing the way for the deal.
