Senators finalize their 2026-27 opening night roster

The Ottawa Senators have finalized their roster for the 2026-27 season. After trimming their roster by 29 players this past weekend, they have made their opening night roster official as the 5pm roster deadline has passed.

The Senators made some surprising moves, especially with the amount of injuries that they had to deal with during camp. So, without further ado, let's get their opening night roster.

Senators' opening night roster

As mentioned, there were some surprising moves made by the Senators as they prepared their opening night roster. They announced that they have cut Ben Hutton from his PTO, which means that someone from the AHL team has made the roster. In addition, Warren Foegele, Kurtis MacDermid and Artem Zub have all been placed on IR, and Ridley Greig will miss the first two games of the season due to a suspension dating back to their playoff series last season against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Forwards: Michael Amadio, Drake Batherson, Andre Burakovsky, Nick Cousins, Dylan Cozens, William Eklund, Warren Foegele, Claude Giroux, Ridly Greig, Stephen Halliday, Hayden Hodgson, Kurtis MacDermid, Shane Pinto, Tim Stutzle and Fabian Zetterlund.

Defence: Thomas Chabot, Cameron Crotty, Tyler Kleven, Nikolas Matinpalo, Jake Sanderson, Jordan Spence, Hoyt Stanley, Carter Yakemchuk, and Artem Zub.

Goalies: Samuel Ersson and Linus Ullmark

With the roster now set, it means that forward Blake Montgomery and defencemen Jorian Donovan were cut from the roster. Additionally, Samuel Blais, Philip Tomasino, Samuel Bolduc, Tyler Boucher, Xavier Bourgault, Philippe Daoust, Ryan Suzuki and Christian Kyrou have all cleared waivers and will report to the Belleville Senators of the AHL.

With both the injuries and Greig's suspension, it'll force some interesting roster decisions. However, for now, these are the 23 players the Senators are opening the 2026-27 season with.
