Seravalli: Canucks to make ‘one more offer’ to Brock Boeser; previously offered five years
? Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

Nobody is really certain what the Vancouver Canucks will do with Brock Boeser ahead of the March 7th NHL Tradeline.

The club has three options, really. First, they can extend him to a new contract, preventing him from reaching unrestricted free agency on July 1st, where he’d be one of the most sought-after free agents after names like Mikko Rantanen, Mitch Marner, and Nikolaj Ehlers.

Second, they can trade him ahead of the deadline if they feel that they won’t be able to agree to terms on a new contract with him. Finally, the Canucks could keep him as their “own rental”, and keep him for their playoff push down the final stretch of the season, even if they know they’ll lose him in free agency.

Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli joined Prime’s Coast to Coast to offer up the following update on where the Canucks stand with Brock Boeser.

“I think one more offer is still to come from Vancouver for Brock Boeser,” Seravalli said. “They put a five-year deal on the table in the price range that works. He’s looking for a little bit longer term than that. I also wouldn’t be shocked to see them keep Brock Boeser past the Trade Deadline, even without a deal.”

It was previously reported that the Canucks’ winger is looking for north of $8 million annually on a long-term deal. Recent rumours have suggested the Canucks are okay with the annual money, but not the number of years Boeser is looking for. This appears to be the case, according to Seravalli, and it will be interesting to see if the Canucks are willing to increase the term on their offer or if Boeser is willing to lower his asking price.

Boeser, who the Canucks drafted back in 2015, has tallied 18 goals and 17 assists through 51 games this season after putting up 40 goals for the first time in his career last season.
