Sharks’ Cameron Lund Sustains Upper-Body Injury

A rookie camp injury could cut down the San Jose Sharks’ training camp roster. Winger Cameron Lund sustained an upper-body injury on a hit delivered by Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jared Woolley in a friendly matchup on Saturday per Curtis Pashelka of Mercury News. Lund briefly tested the injury before leaving for the final two periods. He will be held out of San Jose’s Sunday exhibition against the Utah Mammoth while his injury is examined. As things stand, Lund will carry a questionable tag into San Jose’s training camp which begins on Thursday.

Lund was set to enter the 2026-27 season as a name to watch. He played through his first pro season last year, marked by a productive 25 points in 37 games with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda. Lund also earned an 11-game run with the Sharks at the end of the 2024-25 season, after signing an entry-level contract following three years at Northeastern University. He scored three points in his only NHL stint to date.

Next season will be about finding another gear as the 22 year old enters his second pro season. A 2022 second-round pick, Lund has long held the attention of scouts with his strong shot and physical drive into the slot. He was a routine scorer throughout his junior career, producing for both Northeastern and the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers. Lund only made one appearance at an international junior tournament, scoring four goals and five points at the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

Lund could secure a top-six role in the Barracuda lineup to begin the season, unless his injury sticks around into the regular season. A strong start would put him into competition with Adam Gaudette, Barclay Goodrow, and Ty Dellandrea for a depth role in the Sharks’ lineup.
