The San Jose Sharks announced that forwards Cam Lund and Alex Barre-Boulet have been reassigned to their AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.
Lund suffered an upper-body injury in a prospect game in September, and it was later announced that he would be sidelined for a month. He was designated as injured, non-roster to start the season, so Lund’s reassignment today indicates he will be ready to return to the ice in short order.
A 22-year-old natural center, Lund was one of the top picks of the second round of the 2022 NHL draft. Standing 6’2″, 195 pounds, Lund had a solid three-year NCAA career at Northeastern University before turning pro late in 2024-25. 2025-26 was Lund’s first full campaign at the pro level, and he scored nine goals and 25 points in 37 AHL games.
Lund is generally a well-regarded prospect, although he is not typically counted among the best in what is a deep Sharks farm system. Earlier this year, The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler ranked Lund as the No. 10 prospect in the team’s pool, calling him someone who “has bottom-sixer potential if he can continue to develop.” Now that he’s healthy, Lund will be able to continue building towards that kind of NHL future with the Barracuda.
Barre-Boulet is the other player the Sharks reassigned today, and he’s in a very different situation from Lund. The 29-year-old undrafted winger is one of the AHL’s very best point producers, having scored 133 points in his last 134 games at that level.
He cleared waivers today, which paved the way for his reassignment. He’ll instantly become a top offensive weapon for the Sharks’ AHL affiliate.
