Another San Jose Sharks prospect is about to make his NHL debut.

Sharks management apparently spilled the beans on Tristen Robins’s recall in a Q&A session after tonight’s 4-0 San Jose Barracuda loss to the Colorado Eagles.

San Jose Hockey Now can confirm that Robins is indeed being recalled.

The San Jose Sharks are headed to Western Canada tomorrow for a season-closing road trip against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, the Calgary Flames on Thursday, and the Edmonton Oilers on Friday.

Robins, it can be presumed, should make his NHL debut in his hometown province on Tuesday. While Robins was born in England – his father Trevor goaltended in the British Ice Hockey Superleague (BISL) for six years, from 1996 to 2002 – the Sharks’ 2020 second-round pick grew up in Brandon, Manitoba.

The 21-year-old Robins has enjoyed a strong first full pro season, netting 17 goals and 21 assists through 63 games. The 5-foot-11 center-winger has been especially productive lately, with eight goals and 15 assists in his last 29 appearances.

Robins will be the fifth Shark to make his NHL debut this season, following Danil Gushchin, Henry Thrun, Eetu Makiniemi, and Nick Cicek.

He ranked No. 8 in SJHN’s post-Trade Deadline Sharks’ top-10 prospects ranking:

Barracuda GM Joe Will spoke highly of Robins’s progress in February:

“His feet are so good that he can be a lead forechecker and he can be a guy that gets in and pressures through his feet,” Will said, also praising Robins’s skill. “So that really creates a tenacity within there of puck pursuit and keeping pressure on the opponent.”
