After losing out on potential incoming freshmen from the WHL ranks, Tyson Jugnauth to a pro deal, the Spartans needed to act quickly to address their defense. So naturally, they looked to the portal.
A perfect find was sitting right in front of them. Things couldn't have worked out better for Michigan State and former Ferris State Bulldog, Travis Shoudy.
The best thing going for the Spartans in pursuing Travis was the fact that his twin brother Tiernan, was already a Spartan.
When Travis put his name in the portal in April, the Spartans were quickly being discussed as a potential landing spot.
Shoudy served as captain for the Bulldogs during the 2024-25 season, and finished with 36 points, including six goals.
The Spartans got the news they were looking for this week as Tiernan's twin will officially be joining him in East Lansing. After previously considering elsewhere, the chance to play alongside his twin brother had to have been hard to say no to.

In his three seasons at Ferris State, Shoudy had 49 points in 104 games played.
Brad Elliott Schlossman from the Grand Forks Herald made the news official that after considering Colorado College, Shoudy is heading to the Spartans.
Despite not keeping Jugnauth in the fold, Shoudy's experience and leadership are only going to help the two-time defending Big Ten Champions as they will try to go for a third-straight in 2025-26 and reach their first Frozen Four since 2007, when they won the National Championship.
