The entire Edmonton Oilers organization is holding their breath as they await more news on Connor McDavid's injury, but one prominent sports doctor is sharing some concerning news.

McDavid took an awkward crosscheck from Winnipeg Jets defenceman Josh Morrissey while chasing a dump-in, and the Oilers captain immediately slowed down and left the ice in discomfort.

Sports Doctor shares extremely concerning projections on Connor McDavid injury

Harjas Grewal from the University of BC is a prominent online sports doctor who provides in depth injury analysis to all major sports - and now all eyes are on McDavid.

The Edmonton Oilers officially confirmed a lower body injury for McDavid, and according to Grewal's analysis, the issue may be a groin strain - which could keep him out day to day, or up to months.

Could be as little as day-to-day to numerous weeks and even months out

Just from a probability standpoint, likely going to be on a day-to-day timeline

It's surely a positive that Grewal is leaning more toward the day-to-day timeline for a potential groin strain to McDavid. Losing him month-to-month would be a catastrophic problem.

Additionally, Grewal also raised the possibility of McDavid suffering a partial arm dislocation. The Oilers have only confirmed the lower body injury, so McDavid likely avoided this injury, but still is a significant opinion coming from a doctor.

Oilers still awaiting official prognosis on Connor McDavid injury

After last night's game, Coach Knoblauch provided almost no updates on McDavid's condition. Oilers reporters saw McDavid walking around the room without any medical gear, which is a positive sign for his condition.

With injuries to McDavid, Draisaitl, and Stuart Skinner, the Oilers are heavily banged up just a few weeks out from the playoffs.

The Oilers may be forced to sit some players out a few more games, and allow them to fully heal up instead of coming back prematurely.
