St. Louis Blues Top Two Prospects Set to Join Springfield in Calder Cup Run

The St. Louis Blues AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, picked up a 3-2 overtime win over the Providence Bruins last night to take a 2-1 series lead in their best-of-five series. The Thunderbirds advanced to the second round with a 2-1 series win over the Charlotte Checkers. Springfield lost the first game of that series 8-1 before bouncing back with a 5-2 win to even the series, then a 2-1 overtime win to advance. They won the first game of their series against Providence 3-2, then lost the second game 2-1 before winning last night. They play again on Thursday night with a chance to advance to the Atlantic Division Finals with a win.

They’ll play tomorrow’s game with some reinforcements as two of the St. Louis Blues’ top prospects will join them. Forward Justin Carbonneau and defenseman Adam Jiricek will join Springfield after their Junior seasons came to an end.

Justin Carbonneau

The Blues drafted Carbonneau 19th overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 60 games with Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL this season. Carbonneau had 80 points on 51 goals and 29 assists. He was a +31. He was tied for the league lead in goals. In 17 playoff games, Carbonneau had 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists; he was a plus-nine. Carbonneau played in 222 games in the QMJHL. He had 248 points on 133 goals and 115 assists; he was a +18. In 33 playoff games, he had 31 points on 15 goals and 16 assists; he was a plus-four.

Adam Jiricek

The Blues drafted Jiricek 16th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. In 55 games in the OHL this season with the Brantford Bulldogs, he had 59 points on 19 goals and 40 assists; he was a +31. In 15 playoff games, he had 22 points on seven goals and 15 assists; he was a plus-eight. He also played in seven games at the World Juniors with Czechia, where he had six points on five goals and an assist; he was even in plus/minus. In 82 games in the OHL, he had 71 points on 23 goals and 48 assists; he was a +41. In 24 playoff games he had 24 points on eight goals and 16 assists; he was a plus-ten.
