The St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars begin their 2026-27 NHL seasons with a Central Division showdown Friday night in Dallas.

There will be no easing into the new season for either team.

St. Louis begins a three-game road trip at American Airlines Center against a Dallas team looking to make another run in the Western Conference. It also marks the beginning of a new era for the Blues, with Alexander Steen entering his first season as general manager.

Dallas, meanwhile, gets to open its season in front of its home crowd, with the Stars planning a full night of opening-night festivities before the puck drops.

Here is everything fans need to know about how to watch the Blues and Stars on Friday night.

A New Season Begins for St. Louis and Dallas

The Blues will have a noticeably different look when they take the ice Friday.

Steen officially begins his first season as St. Louis general manager after Doug Armstrong transitioned to president of hockey operations. Steen spent 12 seasons as a player with the Blues and was part of the franchise’s 2019 Stanley Cup championship team.

St. Louis also made significant changes to its roster during the offseason.

The Blues acquired center Mason McTavish from the Anaheim Ducks and added Connor McMichael in the trade that sent Jordan Kyrou to the Washington Capitals.

Now the revamped Blues immediately get an early test against a familiar Central Division opponent.

Dallas enters the season hoping to make another deep postseason push, and Friday’s game provides the Stars with an opportunity to start that journey at home.

The Stars will also make opening night an event for their fans.

Dallas is holding its Victory Green Carpet Walk before the game, with players and coaches scheduled to arrive on the carpet outside American Airlines Center. The team will also hold a pregame show inside the arena.

Once those festivities are finished, the focus shifts to the ice.

Two Central Division rivals. A national television audience. And the first meaningful game of a brand-new season.

For St. Louis and Dallas, the road through the 2026-27 NHL season starts Friday night.
