Former Washington Capitals Stanley Cup-winning forward Alex Chiasson has completed an amazing life achievement, earning his college degree from Boston University.

Former NHL forward Alex Chiasson, who won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Washington Capitals in 2018, achieved a lifelong goal of his when he graduated this month from Boston University.
As a 19 year old, Chiasson enrolled at Boston College and played for the Terriers, even earning Hockey East All-Tournament Team honors in 2012.
He was eventually taken by the Dallas Stars with the 38th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He played the 1st several years of his professional career within the Stars organization before being involved in the blockbuster trade to the Ottawa Senators that sent former Senators fan favorite Jason Spezza to the Stars.
After a stint with the Calgary Flames, he signed a PTO (professional tryout agreement) with the Capitals and soon earned a contract for 2017-18.
He had 18 points (9G, 9A) in 61 games, and added a goal with an assist in 16 playoff games. Chiasson and the rest of his teammates lifted the Stanley Cup in June 2018 at T-Mobile Arena after their 5 game series win over the Vegas Golden Knights.
Chiasson later had stints with the Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks, and Detroit Red Wings. He attempted to secure a roster spot with a PTO from the Boston Bruins in the fall of 2023, but fell short in that pursuit.
He officially retired after scoring 223 points (120G, 113A) in 651 games with the Stars, Senators, Flames, Capitals, Oilers, Canucks, and Red Wings.
