As the Dallas Stars continue their offseason, the rumors around trading star Jason Robertson have persisted. Robertson is looking for a new contract from Dallas, but so far, the team has held firm on the number they are willing to reach.
This has led to the trade talk, and the Stars could potentially benefit from moving Robertson. Dallas is in desperate need of adding to its farm system, and trading Robertson could land them some strong pieces for the future.
Things have been relatively quiet on the Robertson front of late, but we did get an update from NHL insider Sean Shapiro. Shapiro has reported that Dallas did look into a potential trade of Robertson and listed the asking price for the star forward.
The Stars reportedly want a roster player if they were to trade Robertson. Dallas is firmly in win-now mode, so this move could be a tough one to make.

It was also reported by Shapiro that Dallas kicked around the idea of going after former Toronto Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner this offseason. Marner signed with the Vegas Golden Knights, and Dallas would have had to find a way to free up enough money to land him.

Robertson is one of the more exciting young players in the league, so there are plenty of teams that would be interested in a trade for him. Last season with the Stars, Roberyson put up 35 goals and 45 assists.
The team could still move on from Robertson, especially if the two sides can't agree on a new deal. Dallas may be better off moving him, rather than having any unnecessary distractions within the team.
