The Dallas Stars are getting ready for the Western Conference Final showdown against the Edmonton Oilers. Dallas lost to Edmonton last year in this same spot, so they will try to get themselves back to the Stanley Cup Final.
Dallas enters this series feeling very confident after taking down the Presidents' Trophy winners, the Winnipeg Jets. But the team also saw a boost to their roster during the series.
Star defenseman Miro Heiskanen returned to the ice and helped Dallas take down the Jets. Heiskanen has only played in three games since he had surgery to repair a knee injury earlier this year, but he seems to be in good spirits heading into the series with Edmonton.
“Yeah, I kind of feel pretty good,” Heiskanen said after Game 6. “It feels like I'm getting more comfortable every game and every period. It feels pretty normal right now. Really looking forward to the next round.”
Having Heiskanen on the ice is essential to the Stars' overall success, and he does all the little things well for the team. His return allowed Dallas to return to a normal defense, taking pressure off others on the line.
The star has two assists in the three playoff games that he has played in, showing his immediate impact. During the year, he scored five goals and 20 assists before he suffered the injury.
If he can stay healthy, the Stars could do something special this season. This team believes in itself, and having one of the leaders fully back seems to be a massive game-changer.
