One of the key centers on the Dallas Stars won’t be in the lineup when the team returns to play.
On Tuesday, the team announced that forward Radek Faksa has been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
We have placed Radek Faksa on IR (upper body), retroactive to Feb. 17.

Faksa’s injury placement is retroactive to Feb. 17, when he was pronounced out of the lineup for when Czechia faced Denmark in the playoff qualifiers of the men’s hockey tournament during the 2026 Winter Olympics. The 32-year-old suffered the injury during the team’s preliminary-round finale against Switzerland the weekend before, but it was severe enough to keep him out through the Czechs’ quarterfinal matchup with Canada, which ultimately saw the eventual silver medalists win in overtime.
Faksa posted two assists in his three games in Milan.
With Faska going on IR last week, he could be eligible to return whenever he’s ready and a roster spot is available.
The Vitkov native has appeared in 56 of the team’s 57 Stars’ games so far this season. He has potted two goals and 15 assists for 17 points, though he hasn’t registered a point in eight NHL games, having not scored a goal since Jan. 7 against the Washington Capitals.
Faksa returned to Dallas after spending one season with the St. Louis Blues. 10 of his 11 NHL seasons have been with the Stars. He’s in the first season of his three-year contract, with the deal carrying an AAV of $2 million through the 2027-28 campaign.
Faksa’s absence will create a spot for defenseman Lian Bichsel, who has been out since late November due to injury. In 26 games, the 21-year-old has scored a goal and two assists for three points.
The Stars (34-14-9) are third in the Central Division, six points back of the first-place Colorado Avalanche. Dallas hosts the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night.
