Forward Mark Stone scored the lone goal in the Vegas Golden Knights’ 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.
“We weren’t super, super sharp in the first two. We put some chances towards them on the third. It was a really good goalie. If he sees the puck, he’s going to make the most saves,” Stone said. “We did a great job getting traffic. Honestly, we just didn’t execute on our chances. We had some good looks that kind of bounced over the sticks and just couldn’t find one there at the end of the power play.”
Despite the loss, the Golden Knights remain one of the top teams and are 21-8-2 since November.
Stone credits the team’s defensive play with keeping them in games despite the offense drying up recently.
“We’re still playing pretty good defensively,” Stone said. “It’s just one of those times. Every team goes through it. You try to fight your way out. We could easily score 3-4 tonight, and we’re saying a different story. There are some chances to be had, but we just didn’t capitalize. So, we’ve got to work through that, kind of bear down and take a little bit more pride in those chances that you’re getting.”
