Successful Transaction by the Montreal Canadiens: Kent Hughes Finally Comments on Carrier Acquisition
Jerome Miron-Imagn Images

The trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators is a major win for the Habs. GM Kent Hughes managed to acquire Alexandre Carrier in exchange for Justin Barron, and it seems like a guaranteed success for Montreal.

Carrier has made an immediate impact since his arrival.

Moreover, he's incredibly solid defensively and plays significant minutes in critical situations.

I think this is exactly what the Habs needed on their blue line.

Kent Hughes comments on the Alexandre Carrier trade

I find it interesting that Kent Hughes remains grounded despite everything.

He says it's not necessarily a 'steal' (even though it clearly is), as columnist Jean-Charles Lavoie mentioned.

But honestly, it really looks like a win for Montreal.

As for Barron, he didn't get the chance to fully show his potential here, and maybe Nashville will be a better fit for him, although it's off to a rough start on that end.

He seems closer to waivers than to securing a key role in Nashville's lineup.

I believe the Predators mainly wanted to clear cap space, which is why they traded Carrier.

Good for the Habs, because they've clearly gained a player who is already helping the team a lot.

As for the future, only time will tell if this is truly a perfect trade, but in my opinion, Kent Hughes is once again proving he knows how to make smart deals. We're not the only ones who think so.

Additionally, Carrier scored his very first goal in a Montreal Canadiens jersey against the New Jersey Devils!

A great moment!
