Sunday thoughts about... getting presents

Ladies and gentlemen, we are two days away from Vegas Golden Knights hockey, when they'll play the Chicago Blackhawks. That means the fans are at the finish line and can celebrate when the Golden Knights win. That also means collective groaning when someone's favorite player gets hurt. 'Tis the season for the roller coaster of emotions that comes with being a passionate hockey fan, eh?

Breathe in. Breath out. We've finally reached the finish line and can finally relax. Be sure to carve out time on your schedule for Golden Knights viewing because this day feels quite a bit like Christmas.

The beautiful part is that this will go on until April at the earliest. But you could even extend it a couple of months, i.e., what the Golden Knights did last season. All it takes is a little push from superstars like Mitch Marner, Mark Stone, and Jack Eichel. But they're not the only ones who must give that push.

The goaltending must be on point for the Golden Knights. That means not letting things snowball and get out of hand (*cough* *cough* Adin Hill *cough*). You must also not commit defensive zone turnovers and make mistakes. Otherwise, you're losing the game.

But let's not focus on the negative for a second. We're not focusing on how our fantasy teams are doing or what's happening in the NBA. Instead, we're focusing on running it back with the Golden Knights and the Stanley Cup Final. This time? Vegas is searching for its second Stanley Cup, hoping to add more fuel to the fire of hatred from other fans. How sweet it must be to be that successful, huh?

What would be some sweet presents to get for the Vegas Golden Knights?

Obviously, you'd want the Stanley Cup. That should be the top prize to obtain for anybody, unless you're the Maple Leafs. The objective for Toronto would be to hope that they can get past the Second Round and try to stick it to Mitch Marner. That evil man.

But another gift would be for the Golden Knights to get a player with a 100-point season. Vegas has never had such a player in franchise history, with Jack Eichel coming the closest to the mark (94 points in 2024-25). That would be akin to getting a PS4 to go with your new car from your spouse. Double the fun!

Furthermore, staying healthy would be an excellent gift for the Golden Knights. Seeing names like Mark Stone and William Karlsson play for most (or all) of the 84-game season would be fantastic for Vegas. The good news is that Vegas has had it easy with Jack Eichel and Shea Theodore sticking around. But let's keep everyone on the ice, shall we?
