Team Canada Unveils 42-Man NHL Roster for Olympic Orientation Camp

Team Canada has unveiled their 42-man roster of NHL players that are set to join the club in preparation for the Olympics next winter, at their orientation camp.

Hockey Canada is set to host an Olympic orientation camp Aug. 26-28 in Calgary in order to begin assembling its men's, women's, and para hockey teams for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, the organization stated Friday.

The roster at the men's camp includes 42 NHL players, and all are contenders for the final 25-man roster (22 skaters, three goalies).

Six Players Are Already Locks to Be on the Roster, Including Connor McDavid

Six players were locks to make the roster, which was announced in June by the IIHF: Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Connor McDavid, Brayden Point, and Sam Reinhart.

Goaltending appears all but assured, with only three goalies getting an invite: Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill, and Sam Montembeault, the same trio that helped Canada capture the 4 Nations Face-Off earlier in February.

Team Canada's leadership team is already in place, led by St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong. He will be joined by Lightning GM Julien BriseBois, Stars GM Jim Nill, and Bruins GM Don Sweeney.

Penguins GM Kyle Dubas will serve as director of player personnel, helping shape the roster with head coach Jon Cooper. Former Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf is also on staff as a player relations advisor.
