The Calgary Flames have signed goaltender Ivan Prosvetov

Earlier on this Tuesday, Dan Vladar signed a 2 year, 3.35M AAV deal with the Philadelphia Flyers. So, the Flames needed to add some goaltending insurance. They do that with by adding Ivan Prosvetov today. Contract details have not been announced yet.

Prosvetov, 6’5″, comes back to the NHL after spending last season with CSKA Moscow in the KHL. Prosvetov had a 0.920 SV% and a 2.32 GAA in 38 regular season games for CSKA last year. Prosvetov had a 0.918 SV% and a 2.90 GAA in five playoff games.

Prosvetov has played in 24 NHL games with the Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche, putting up a 0.881 SV% and a 3.70 GAA. Prosvetov was originally selected 114th overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2014 NHL Draft. Prosvetov has spent parts of five seasons in the AHL as well, most recently with the Colorado Eagles in 2023-24. He put up a 0.921 SV% and 2.33 GAA in 21 AHL games.

The crease belongs to Dustin Wolf, but there will be some healthy competition between Prosvetov and Devin Cooley, who is on a 1-way contract for the 2025-26 season. Cooley impressed in training camp with the Flames last season and with the Wranglers in the first half of last season before injury. Game on, gentlemen.
