The Chicago Blackhawks Make Three Training Camp Moves

Chicago’s 2026 second-round pick will be leaving camp to go back to Guelph in preparation for the Storm’s season. Guelph, which won the Memorial Cup bid for this season, will look to Roobroeck to lead the way offensively in their top six. The team struggled with most of their key players in NHL training camps. The Storm were outscored 11-1 over the course of the first two games of the season.

Roobroeck was acquired by the Storm in a blockbuster deal after a major roster overhaul. Before the draft, five assets, two players and three picks, were sent Niagara’s way. In his time with the IceDogs, Roobroeck recorded 196 points in just 176 regular-season games.

Soon, Roobroeck will start his OHL campaign, with a good chance he debuts Sept. 25 when Oshawa faces Guelph at 6 p.m. CT (7 p.m. ET).

Ty Henry

Henry is a player that the Chicago Blackhawks have drafted a multitude of. Think the likes of Ashton Cumby or Louis Crevier. The 20-year-old was originally picked in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, it hasn’t really been smooth skating for Henry.

In 117 games with the Erie Otters, Henry has one goal and 24 assists for 25 points. Never really breaking out of the basement of the lineup, Henry will have to prove he can stick around in the team’s prospect pipeline.

For the 2027-28 season, Ty Henry will suit up with St. Thomas University in the NCAA.

Parker Holmes

Without a doubt one of the most odd draft picks by the Chicago Blackhawks, Holmes was taken in the fourth round of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. In his draft year, Parker Holmes registered one point in 25 games before being sidelined with an injury. Comparatively, last season saw a jump in offensive production, with 17 points tallied in 49 games.

Before this season, Brantford traded Holmes to the Sarnia Sting for two draft picks.

Every player sent down by the Chicago Blackhawks is currently on OHL contracts, and that is no coincidence. With the Ontario Hockey League’s season ramping up, more teams from around the league are shedding their young players to let them get acclimated to their teams sooner.
