The 'First-overall NHL Draft picks' quiz

The New York Islanders won the NHL Draft lottery and turned their ticket into 17-year-old defenseman Matthew Schaefer with the first-overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. Schaefer hasn’t played in a game since December after needing surgery for a broken collarbone suffered playing for Team Canada against Latvia in the World Junior Championships. In 15 games with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League he tallied 22 total points and became the first OHL player drafted No. 1 since Connor McDavid in 2015. After being drafted, Schaefer wasted no time in throwing barbs towards the New York Rangers. 

“We’re going to beat the Rangers every time we play them,” he said, via John Kreiser.
