The 'Last playoff-goals leader by team' quiz

While the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres Second Round Stanley Cup Playoff series went to Game 7, none of the first six contests went to overtime. But after the Sabers rallied from two-goals down on home ice to force an extra period, Alex Newhook scored his sixth goal of the series to advance the Habs to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The goal was Newhook’s second game and series winning goals of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, with the 2022 champion scoring on one of Montreal’s nine shots in Game 7 against Tampa Bay.

With the Canadiens second Game 7-win of the postseason, Montreal has played the maximum amount of games possible. Meanwhile their opponent the Carolina Hurricanes has played the minimum and will have had 11 days off thanks to their back-to-back sweeps of Ottawa and Philadelphia.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Newhook currently leads the Canadiens with seven goals in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. With that being said, can you name the leading scorer for each NHL team in their most recent postseason appearance?

Note: Teams still in the playoffs are indicated by an asterisk (*) and the listed leader will be for their most recent appearance before 2026.

Good luck!
