The Utah Mammoth have already had a long road trip this season. After opening the season at home with a 6-1 win, Utah had a five-game road trip where it went 3-2.

Utah now has another huge road trip where it will try to set itself up for a good homestand.

Can Utah survive a six-game road trip?

The Mammoth start a six-game road trip tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Mammoth haven't been playing well lately, losing three of their last five games. Utah has struggled to keep its opponents off the board and has even struggled to create offense recently.

The Mammoth would love to prove they're a capable team and remain close in the Central Division. Utah has played pretty well in 2026-27 so far, and even had some nice stretches where it seemed like it was getting going.

But it feels like the Mammoth haven't quite got rolling. Utah hasn't played its best brand of hockey yet.

Simply put, Utah needs to play less sloppily (they had seven penalties against the Minnesota Wild), play better defense (they have the fourth-worst penalty-kill percentage), and get some stars like Vincent Trocheck, Logan Cooley, and others going.

Trocheck has been rather quiet, while Cooley has started to get going, but Utah would still like to get more from their potential superstar center. In order to survive this road stretch and thrive while doing so, the Mammoth need to get some of their stars going.

It would be really nice to see the Mammoth start to get rolling on this critical road trip.
