For the first time since 2006, the Carolina Hurricanes are returning to the Stanley Cup Finals.
While much was made about the Hurricanes and their shot-suppression of the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Finals, they still needed big saves from veteran goaltender Frederik Andersen to win the Prince of Wales Trophy. The 36 year old Dane set Hurricanes franchise-records for playoff shutouts both all-time (5) and in a single playoff run (3), surpassing milestones set by Carolina legend Cam Ward in Carolina’s Game 4 win in Montreal.
Andersen is 12-1 this postseason, and if he happens to start the rest of the way en route to lifting the Stanley Cup, he’ll equal his win total from the regular season.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Andersen has been a quality regular season goalie over the course of his 13-year career, and is finally proving himself in the postseason. With that being said, can you name the players to record the most saves in each NHL season since 1995-96?
Good luck!
