The New York Rangers finally found offense at Madison Square Garden Monday night, defeating the Nashville Predators 6-3, thanks to a two-goal performance from Artemi Panarin, a two-assist night from Vincent Trocheck, two points from Vladislav Gavrikov, a three-point game from Alexis Lafreniere and a 27-save performance from Igor Shesterkin.

The Rangers have struggled mightily to score at home this season: in their previous seven home games, they were shutout five times. Now with an 8-7-2 record through their first 17 games of the year, five of New York’s next six games will be on the road, starting with a trip to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning.

On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discuss the Rangers’ big win at home and what it could do to improve their fortunes through the 2025-26 campaign.

Tyler Yaremchuk: It was the Rangers’ first win at Madison Square Garden, and they were the last team in the NHL to not have a win on home ice this season.

Carter Hutton: It was about time. It felt like it was going to pop, right? They needed to get one goal, then it was going to pop off. Panarin played well last night, finding the back of the net twice. As for Lafreniere, it felt like he was coming into his own the last few seasons, like he was becoming a superstar, but then there was a big drop off.

The Rangers needed to find a way to win, and the Predators were the victim. I thought Shesterkin was good early in this game, as the shots were a little lopsided for Nashville. For this New York team, this is something to build on.
