Two Dallas Stars take a big step toward making Team Canada's 2026 Olympic roster

As NHL participation in the 2026 Olympics becomes reality, two rising Dallas Stars have emerged as potential players for Team Canada, and they've already begun to turn heads in international play.

The recent Four Nations Face-Off tournament reignited Olympic buzz across North America, especially after Team USA edged out Canada in the highly watched final.

Over 16 million people tuned in, and for Stars fans, the real highlight wasn't the final score, but rather who showed up in a Team Canada jersey.

Thomas Harley and Wyatt Johnston get invited to Canada's Olympic orientation camp

When defenseman Thomas Harley joined the Canadian roster mid-tournament as an injury replacement, few outside of Dallas knew what to expect. But by the end, he was earning top-four minutes and praise from analysts and fans alike.

"He plays such a clean, modern game. It was only a matter of time before he made noise at this level," one Canadian broadcaster said during the final round.

Harley's strong play didn't go unnoticed.

He was officially named to Team Canada's Olympic orientation camp, putting him firmly in the mix for Milan 2026.

Even more surprising, though, was the inclusion of Wyatt Johnston.

While Dallas fans are well aware of Johnston's maturity and scoring touch, he's often overlooked on the national stage due to market size.

Now, he's being recognized where it counts.

According to TSN's report on Canada's orientation camp, both Stars players were invited alongside names like Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, and Cale Makar.

"To even be in the same room as those guys is surreal,"
Harley said during a media availability shared by NHL.com's Stars coverage.

I think Johnston's invitation shows just how far he's come in such a short time.

It also hints that Canada might be ready to trust a younger core next time around.
