Justin Hryckowian could boost the Dallas Stars forward depth with his AHL Rookie of the Year grit and NHL preseason energy.

Hryckowian could be the surprise answer for the Dallas Stars forward depth, but many fans still don't know his name.

The young forward, who was named AHL Rookie of the Year, is suddenly becoming a talking point around the organization.

His style of play, his energy, and his willingness to do the dirty work have drawn comparisons to players who win over fans quickly, even if they aren't stars on the scoresheet.

Justin Hryckowian could bring grit, depth, and energy to help the Dallas Stars forward group reach a new level

The conversation started on the DLLS Stars Podcast, where one host summed up what many scouts have been whispering.

'Justin Hryckowian screams Sam Nestler style of player to me. He's the guy in NHL preseason last year, he's out there fighting like it's the mid-90s. On top of that, he's a college hockey guy,' Owen Newkirk explained.

Hryckowian has built his reputation on grit and determination, traits that have earned him trust from coaches at every level.

'He could surprise some people next year, Newkirk added, pointing out that he's a guy that some people didn't pay attention to last year, but I think he's someone who can fill that fan favourite role for the right reasons.'

For Dallas, adding a forward who can bring that energy might be just what the team needs to avoid stretches where their offense feels too predictable.

I think his style could bring the team a much-needed spark, and that's why I'm curious to see his preseason.

Fans may not have seen much of him yet, but the way he plays could make him hard to ignore if he earns a roster spot.
