Thursday's Golden Knights-Sharks game postponed due to COVID-19

Thursday's game between the Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks won't take place as scheduled.

The Sharks confirmed on Wednesday that the home matchup versus Vegas has been postponed because one San Jose player was placed on the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list.

"Despite having only one player currently impacted, the decision to cancel the team's practice and training activities on Wednesday, and postpone the game on Thursday was made out of an abundance of caution," the Sharks added in the brief statement.

No makeup date for the game was mentioned. According to the team's official calendar, the Sharks remain on track to host the St. Louis Blues on Saturday evening. "The League is in the process of reviewing and revising the Sharks’ regular-season schedule," the NHL said.

San Jose sits seventh in the West standings and hasn't played since losing to the Minnesota Wild on Monday. The first-place Golden Knights also haven't competed since Monday when they defeated the Colorado Avalanche. Vegas is next set to play at the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.
