With Blake Lizotte placed in COVID protocol on Saturday, the LA Kings recalled both Jaret Anderson-Dolan and T.J. Tynan from Ontario, and it looks like the latter will make his Kings debut against the Oilers on Sunday:

Tynan was previously recalled in early November, but he never played.

With Brendan Lemieux still serving his five-game suspension, the Kings’ fourth line is kind of in flux right now, with plenty of opportunities for others to showcase themselves. If you recall, JAD shined when Lizotte was placed in COVID protocol last year, tallying five points in his first six games before an injury knocked him out for a month.

Now, it’s Tynan’s turn, although he’s not exactly being eased into his LA debut, going against the high-powered Oilers on Sunday night.

However, the Orland Park, Illinois native is not a 21-year-old getting his feet wet – he’s been around for quite some time, with 19 games of NHL experience, mostly in Colorado.

He’s much more of a facilitator than a shooter, tallying just three goals but 14 assists in 12 games with the Ontario Reign. That said, he’s not afraid to shoot the puck, logging nearly a career-high 17 percent shot rate in the AHL this year.

Here’s how the Kings forwards up in practice, via LA Kings Insider:

Kempe – Kopitar – Brown
Iafallo – Danault – Arvidsson
Andersson – Kupari – Moore
Grundstrom – Tynan – Kaliyev
(Anderson-Dolan)

It’ll be interesting to see the dynamic – albeit in a likely limited sample size – between Tynan and Kaliyev in what makes for an excellent facilitator-sniper combination. Add in Grundstrom’s physicality, and the Kings might have something.

We’ll get our first look tonight, with puck drop set for 5 pm PT.
