The start of the Canada-USA game was chaotic with three fights in the first nine seconds, and Matthew and Brady Tkachuk confirm it was all premeditated.
The start of Team Canada's and Team USA's first best-on-best game in years showed the rivalry is alive and well with 3 fights in the first 9 seconds.
Matthew Tkachuk kicked things off fighting Brandon Hagel which led to Brady Tkachuk squaring off with Sam Bennett on the ensuing faceoff. Three seconds after that, after a scrum in front of Canadian goaltender Jordan Binnington, Colton Parayko beat the wheels off of J.T. Miller.
While Canada seemingly had the momentum, especially after Connor McDavid opened the scoring later in the first period, a soft goal by Jake Guentzel quieted the Bell Centre in a hurry.
The U.S. ended up getting another soft goal from Dylan Larkin in the second period that ended up being the game winner and securing USA's spot in the final.
Following the game, the Tkachuk brothers were asked about the hectic start of the game and revealed they planned it earlier in the day with Miller.
'There was a little discussion during the day, there was a group chat going,'revealed Brady.
That was confirmed by Matthew, who added they felt they had to send a message.
While USA will play for the title next week, they may be without Matthew Tkachuk, who is out with a lower-body injury.
The United States may be without Tkachuk, but Canada may be headed home early if they don't defeat Finland in regulation on Monday.
