SUNRISE — Brady Tkachuk opened the scoring in the Tkachuk Bowl between the Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers with a power-play goal in the first.
Matthew Tkachuk had the final say, however.
With a goal and two assists in a four-goal second, Matthew Tkachuk led the Panthers to their fifth win in six games, this one 5-1 over Brady and the Senators.
This was the final game for both teams before the NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off — of which the Tkachuk brothers will be teammates for Team USA — and the Panthers went into it on a heater.
So, did Matthew Tkachuk who extended his goal streak to six games.
Florida trailed 1-0 on Brady’s power-play goal in the first — only Matthew answered for the Panthers at 6:18 of the second with a power-play goal of his own.
Tkachuk then sent a fluttering point shot toward the net that Sasha Barkov knocked home to give the Panthers their first — and final — lead of the night.
Gus Forsling and Sam Bennett also scored in a second period absolutely dominated by the Panthers.
Florida will be off until playing host to Brandon Montour and the Kraken on Feb. 22 and will have eight players — by far the most in the NHL — at the 4 Nations tournament which starts Wednesday in Montreal.
