Tobias Tvrznik – 2026 NHL Draft Prospect Profile

After a strong season with the Wild, he announced to continue his development in the NCAA with Ohio State, starting from the 2027-28 campaign. This season, he was a feature for his team, and he was a finalist for the Del Wilson Memorial Trophy for the WHL’s best goalie. Tvrznik made his WHL debut on Sept. 20, recording 60 saves against the Everett Silvertips and equaling a franchise record set during the team’s inaugural 1995-96 season as the Edmonton ICE.

He then recorded his first and so far only WHL shutout Feb. 6 in a 2-0 defeat of the Victoria Royals. Moreover, he was also nominated to the inaugural WHL Top Prospects Game before being forced to miss the event due to injury. His commitment to the NCAA will give him plenty of time to develop further and should give him a good chance at making the NHL one day.

He indeed had a very good season that got the scouts’ attention. His CV is backed by solid size at 6-foot-4, 183 pounds, excellent composure, and good footwork. He should, however, work on his speed and rebound control.

After such a strong season, it’s hard to think that Tvrznik will be snubbed again. Moreover, his commitment to NCAA hockey is a good sign of wanting his development to happen in North America, and this will, of course, be seen as an advantage over same-level, European-based netminders. He’s likely to be the first re-entry picked, and a spot as high as the fourth round should be where Tvrznik will hear his name.

He’s committed to the NCAA, and this is a good sign that the goalie wants to develop in an environment that NHL teams will like, and this may help him in eventually getting a chance later in his career.
