Tomas Tatar Heads Overseas

The Slovakian forward was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft. He would spend his first nine seasons in the Red Wings organization. His first four seasons were primarily in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he put up 87 goals and 109 assists for 196 points in 265 games. During the 2012-13 season, he put up 23 goals and 26 assists for 49 points in 61 games. He found another level during the Calder Cup Playoffs, putting up 16 goals and five assists for 21 points in 24 Games as the Griffins won the Calder Cup. Tatar won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the AHL MVP. In his seven years with the Red Wings, he put up 115 goals and 107 assists for 222 points in 407 games, including a career-high 29 goals during the 2014-15 season.

Tatar’s Career After Leaving The Red Wings

In 2018, Tomas Tatar was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights. He would spend the next seven seasons bouncing around as he’d spent time with the Golden Knights, Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, and Seattle Kraken. In 927 career NHL Games, Tatar would put up 227 goals and 269 assists for 496 points. He would also play in 56 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, where he’d put up seven goals and six assists for 13 points. Tatar also won a Silver Medal with Slovakia during the 2012 World Championships, where he had two goals and three assists for five points.
