The Boston Bruins enter the 2025-26 season in the midst of a rebuild and a roster filled with a superstar, a few good veterans, and a mix of younger players trying to capture a spot in training camp. The Bruins have had a prospect pool that has been dead last in some rankings over the last few years. By his own admission, General Manager Don Sweeney knows that player development has been subpar. However, that trend is already moving upward with the drafting of Boston College standout James Hagens and the hiring of former Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid as Director of Player Development. The pool of young players is slowly improving, and The Bruins Benders Podcast released their top 30 recently. Here are players 16-20:
Hendrickson is a sophomore forward at Minnesota and was a fourth-round draft pick 2023 by the Bruins. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound center scored three goals with nine assists in his first season in the NCAA and currently has a goal and four assists this season. Hendrickson has good passing skill and sees the ice well. The Minnetonka native projects to stay in college for at least another season.
After being drafted in the seventh round in 2022, Edward became an intriguing prospect while leading the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League to a Memorial Cup appearance. Billed as a violent defender, Edward has not shown as much of that style in the pros. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defenseman played 31 games with Providence and seven with Maine in the ECHL. Edward has played just three games with the AHL team so far this season.
Kostadinski was a seventh-round pick in 2023 and is a heavy-hitting blueliner who is a defensive d-man. The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder as one assist in five games and was a healthy scratch in the last game. The big defenseman is a project and is spending his first season with the Eagles with five other Bruins prospects.
The 20-year-old Pelosi is developing as a viable candidate to play in the pros. Pelosi had a solid freshman year with 13 goals and 11 assists. This season, Pelosi has four goals and two assists in eight games. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward goes hard to the net and has the hand-eye coordination to score goals in tight. The 2023 third-round pick will play at least another season in college.
The 2024 sixth-round pick is a big, physical defenseman who had an excellent year with Moncton in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season. Out of training camp, Johansson seemed to make the Providence Bruins team, but was sent down to Maine and has played six games there with two assists. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound blueliner is a prospect who has upside and should find a role in the AHL soon.
Keep an eye out for prospects 11-15 coming soon. The Bruins Benders Podcast can be found on the Inside The Rink YouTube Channel.
