Per a report on social media, 26 year old goaltender Ivan Prosvetov, formerly of the Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes, will be coming to the Calgary Flames from Russia.
The Calgary Flames could very well be getting themselves a highly touted Russian goaltender for next year to play behind Dustin Wolf and who could potentially push aside backup Dan Vladar.
Per a report on X, former Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes goaltender Ivan Prosvetov, who has played this year with HC CSKA Moscow in the KHL, will be signing with the Flames for next year.
According to a very knowledgeable and reliable local insider Ivan Prosvetov is going to terminate his contract with Red Army HC and sign a one-way contract with Calgary Flames.
Still a rumour but the probability is very high. If happens, say good bye to Dan Vladar and welcome your new 2025/2026 backup goalie.
Prosvetov was taken with the 114th overall pick by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, and was already highly regarded by being ranked 14th overall among North American goaltenders by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau after playing with the NAHL's Minnesota Magicians and the USHL's Youngstown Phantoms.
He'd play the 1st handful of years of his professional career split between the Coyotes and their AHL affiliate Tucson Roadrunners before he was waived and eventually claimed by the Avalanche in October 2023; he mostly played 2023-24 with the AHL affiliate Colorado Eagles.
Returning to Russia to play for HC CSKA Moscow in the KHL, he went 20-16-2 with an impressive 2.32 GAA and .920 SV%.
