Dennis Hildeby has been solid in his professional career, and now the Maple Leafs have locked him down as the team's No. 3 goaltender.

Back in 2022, the Toronto Maple Leafs used a fourth-round pick on goaltender Dennis Hildeby, and thus far, the 6-foot-7 Swede has been more than impressive in his professional career, starting with the Toronto Marlies in the past few seasons.

Despite fighting for playing time in both the AHL and the NHL, Hildeby has been solid, posting a GAA below 2.60 and a save percentage above .908 in his two full seasons with the Toronto Marlies, while also making his NHL debut with the team a season ago.

Can Hildeby Solidify Himself as Toronto's No. 3 Goalie This Season?

Now, after the team parted ways with Matt Murray earlier this off-season, he has the chance to solidify himself as the No. 3 in the organization behind Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz, both of whom excelled at the NHL level last season.

However, both are known to be injury prone, meaning that if Hildeby can do just that, he should find himself getting significant playing time in the National Hockey League next season.

How the Leafs' Goalie Depth Chart Shapes Up After Hildeby's Extension

On Tuesday, the team made Hildeby's extension official, and at 24-years of age, he presents as a reliable depth piece for the organization while also being young enough to still be a key player of the future.

For now, we'll see how things play out, but given the talent that the 6-foot-7 goaltender has flashed thus far, he could end up being a very good NHLer for this team for years to come.
