The Vancouver Canucks have announced a roster transaction on Sunday afternoon with goaltending prospect Ty Young following a strong stretch down in the ECHL.

Ty Young has been on a roll down in the ECHL with the Kalamazoo Wings, even recording his first professional shutout last weekend and now, he's earned a promotion.

Vancouver Canucks assign Ty Young to American Hockey League

In a post on social media this afternoon, the Abbotsford Canucks announced that Vancouver has assigned Ty Young to them from the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings, just in time for tomorrow's game against the Colorado Eagles.

'The following transaction has occurred:

- Vancouver (NHL) re-assigns G Ty Young from Kalamazoo (ECHL) to Abbotsford' the Abbotsford Canucks said.

The call up of Ty Young to Abbotsford is interesting because there's already two healthy netminders with the AHL club, but perhaps this could mean Arturs Silovs or Nikita Tolopilo will be heading up to Vancouver if Thatcher Demko isn't ready to return from an injury sustained before the 4 Nations Face-Off break.

In Ty Young's last three games, he's registered two shutouts and made 45 saves in a 2-1 loss last night against the Fort Wayne Komets.

The 20-year-old also is second in the entire ECHL with a save percentage of .934, according to Dave Hall of Canucks Army.

'Ty Young gets promoted to Abbotsford after an incredible stretch in Kalamazoo.

His last three games:

Stops 45 of 47 shots (2-1 loss)
Stops all 37 shots (4-0 win)
Stops all 30 shots (2-0 win)

His .934 save percentage is second best among all ECHL goalies. #Canucks' Dave Hall said.

Young, a native of Coaldale, Alberta has already made five appearances for Abbotsford in the AHL this season where he has a record of 3-2-0, a 2.41 goals against average and a .915 save percentage.

We'll have to wait and see before puck drop in Abbotsford tomorrow who head coach Manny Malhotra names as his starter with three options available to him - Arturs Silovs, Nikita Tolopilo and Ty Young.
