Tucson Roadrunners Taking Part In Utah Mammoth Rookie Camp

The National Hockey League’s training camps are around the corner, which means it’s time for the young guns to showcase what they have in rookie camps in order to get the call to the big camp for a chance to start the season in the NHL this year.

The Utah Mammoth posted their rookie camp roster on social media Tuesday, including names native to Tucson Roadrunners fans like Owen Allard, Michael Hrabal, Daniil But and Artem Duda.

Allard won fittest player at Mammoth development camp each of the last two seasons. In 69 games with the Roadrunners last season, the forward from Ontario posted eight goals and 11 assists, totaling 19 points. From game one to game 72, Allard’s position within the lineup changed nightly based on what head coach Steve Potvin needed from the 22-year-old, but his growth was noticeable as his decision-making continued to improve; so did his chemistry with his teammates.

Mammoth fans may also remember the name Daniil But, as he was a constant flex piece within the organization from the American Hockey League to the NHL, and he appeared in 29 games with the Mammoth, marking three goals and four assists for seven points. In 41 games with the Roadrunners, spending time on the top two lines and the power play unit, But logged 19 goals and 20 assists for 39 points, leading qualified skaters on the team with .95 points per games.

Michael Hrabal joined the Roadrunners after the University of Massachusetts wrapped their season, on a pro tryout agreement after signing his three-year entry-level contract with the Mammoth in March of 2026. Hrabal appeared in five games with a 3-1-1 record, 2.96 goals against average, and a .897 save percentage. Across 82 games with the Minutemen, he posted a 2.26 GAA and a .927 SV% from 2023 through the end of the 2025-26 season.

Duda has seen the last two seasons with the Roadrunners after joining the club in 2024-25. In those two seasons, he’s seen the ice in 97 of them, with eight goals and 34 assists. After less than half of the season in 2025-26, Duda went down with a leg injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year. With Maksymillian Szuber getting moved north of the border in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens earlier in the offseason, and names like Maveric Lamoreaux and Dmitri Simashev sure to see time with the Mammoth this season, should Duda remain in good health, he will for sure be a mainstay on the blue for the Roadrunners in all situations – power play, penalty kill, and even strength.

The Roadrunners host the Southwest Showdown September 26th and 27th at the Tucson Arena with four games in two days featuring the Roadrunners, Colorado Eagles, Henderson Silver Knights and Texas Stars.
