The depth chart has shored up as Manitoba Moose forwards Samuel Fagemo and Reece Vitelli have signed contracts taking them overseas.

Fagemo, the Moose’s leading goalscorer with 19 goals, was rumoured months ago to sign in the SHL with Frolunda HC.

Vitelli, an ECHL regular, heads to Kalmar HC of HockeyAllsvenskan.

Samuel Fagemo was picked up as an NHL free agent in the 2025 offseason, and he saw his production dip from previous years.

The signing back home in Sweden allows him to play in his home country while he reestablishes himself with one of the top SHL teams that he won a championship with in 2018-19.

With Fagemo’s return to the SHL, he’ll aim to find his scoring touch again and possibly make a North American return.

As for Vitelli, he never got his footing with the Moose in the two years he spent with the organization. He played 27 games across two seasons for Manitoba and managed to post only four assists in that time.

The 24-year-old centre looks for an opportunity over in Sweden after playing for his hometown team.

Vitelli posted 157 points (43G, 114A) in 192 ECHL games across four seasons. His best season came in 2024-25 with the Savannah Ghost Pirates, posting 52 points (12G, 40A) in 57 games.

If Vitelli can find a way to translate his production in the ECHL to the HockeyAllsvenskan, there will be no doubt that a return to North America might be in the cards.

With roster spots opening up for the Manitoba Moose, they’ll look to fill the roles that both Fagemo and Vitelli had in the organization.
