Two NHL bets for Friday night's Winnipeg Jets-Florida Panthers showdown
Will Florida Panthers center Carter Verhaeghe's recent nose for the net lead to a high volume of shots on goal on Friday night? Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Two NHL bets for Friday night's Winnipeg Jets-Florida Panthers showdown

We have just two games on the NHL slate Friday, and our attention is going to stay with just one. When looking at shots and goal data, the far more appealing game to me is the Winnipeg Jets visiting the Florida Panthers.

Winnipeg lets up shots, and I think we should be seeing plenty of goals Friday. With that belief in mind, let's tackle the game.

Carter Verhaeghe over 2.5 SOG (+145 DK)

Winnipeg lets up 34.4 shots per game on the road, and Florida shoots so much at home. We don't typically bring these numbers in, but it feels worth mentioning: the Panthers average 45 shots per game as a team at home in the last 10 games.

That is a massive amount of volume, and it leads the NHL.

I like looking for some plus-money value in such a great spot for shots, and it's Carter Verhaeghe that has caught my attention.

Verhaeghe has hit his SOG in three of five games, with a solid floor of two shots on net in each game.

There's a few things that put him over the edge for me. First, his attempts have been solid, with six shot attempts in four of five. He's also hit in two straight at home and got to 3 SOG when these teams last met.

The Jets are more vulnerable to shots from the left wing, allowing the fifth-most per game since March 1, which stands to benefit Verhaeghe.

Love the odds at +145 here, I'm in.

Pierre-Luc Dubois point (-122 FD)

The over/under in this game is set at seven, which feels appropriate. While Florida may carry that total with their averages, I expect Winnipeg to contribute.

The Jets are averaging 3.8 goals per game on the road in their last five games, while the Panthers are seeing three goals scored per game against them at home.

Dubois is on the top line for Winnipeg, skating alongside star LW Kyle Connor.

Dubois has four points in his last three, and 10 points total in his last 10 on the road. He also had one point when they played Florida last.

For a top-line center in a projected high-scoring game, I think -122 is a great price to grab a points prop.

That will do it for me on this Friday in the NHL, good luck!
