DALLAS — Tyler Seguin scored for the second straight game Tuesday night and set up the Dallas Stars’ other goal in a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche at American Airlines Center.

At 19:06 of the first period, Seguin tied the game 1-1 on the power play. His pass for Mikko Rantanen at the back post went in off the skate of Colorado’s Artturi Lehkonen. It was the Stars’ first home power-play goal of the season in eight tries.

Early in the third, Seguin won a faceoff after a Colorado icing. He then found Roope Hintz from below the goal line, and Hintz one-timed the pass inside the near post at 3:17 to cut Colorado’s lead to 3-2. Miro Heiskanen also assisted.

Seguin has 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points in six games. He had no points through the first four.

Tyler Seguin Finds Rhythm 10 Months After Torn ACL

Seguin tore the ACL in his right knee on Dec. 2, 2025. He played 27 games last season, with 7 goals and 10 assists for 17 points.

On Saturday in Pittsburgh, he tipped in a shot from Jason Robertson with 30 seconds left in regulation, tying a game Dallas went on to lose 2-1 in a shootout. It was his first goal since Nov. 15, 2025.

Seguin said afterward that each game has felt a little more comfortable than the last.

“It felt great,” Seguin said. “Every day, just trying to get better. Every game, I feel a little more comfortable, feel a little better. Compete a little more. Nice to get one.”

Before the Oct. 2 opener, Stars coach Glen Gulutzan described Seguin as healthy but not yet at full stride, and he pointed to what Seguin brings off the ice.

“It’s huge for us to have him back in and his voice in the locker room,” Gulutzan said.

Boston took Seguin second overall in the 2010 NHL Draft. Four years ago Tuesday, he assisted on the first NHL goal of Wyatt Johnston, who missed Tuesday’s game with an illness. It was the first game Johnston has missed in his career.

Seguin Reacts To Roope Hintz’s First NHL Fight

In the second period, Hintz dropped the gloves with Nathan MacKinnon for the first fight of his NHL career. Last March, Hintz tore his hamstring after getting tangled up with MacKinnon and missed the rest of the season.

Hintz was not available to reporters after the game. Seguin was a little surprised to see him fight at all.

“I mean, he’s a competitive guy,” Seguin said. “I think his talent and technique in the fight maybe was the surprise, but good on him.”

MacKinnon went to the Colorado locker room for facial repairs and was off the bench for more than seven minutes of the second period. Seguin wants Hintz to keep that kind of night rare.

“It’s awesome to see us compete,” Seguin explained. “Don’t want him to fight too much, but it’s cool to see tonight.”

Martin Nečas scored twice in the second period for Colorado, the second during a 29-second two-man advantage. Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger made 22 saves, and Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 24 of 26 shots for the Avalanche.

Dallas, 2-3-1, plays at Colorado on Wednesday at Ball Arena, with puck drop at 7:30 p.m. CT on TNT.
