Unexpected Oilers goalie prospect emerging as promising player

In 17 games this season for BIK Karlskoga, Jonsson has an incredible record of 16-1-0 with a brilliant .924 save percentage, and 5 shutouts.

These are obviously promising numbers, but it's important to note that Jonsson is still playing in Sweden's second division. He's taken a major step forward this year at 21 years old, so he should get the call up to the SHL next year.

The Oilers second best goalie prospect, Eemil Vinni, unfortunately hasn't seen much playing time this season while coming back from a major injury to begin the year. Out of all goalie prospects, Oilers analyst Bruce Curlock believes Vinni has the best chance to be an NHL goalie.

The third option is goaltender Nathaniel Day, currently playing with the Flint Firebirds and having a quality season - he made an impression at training camp and has earned some praise in the OHL this year.

It's obviously a long shot that any goaltender drafted in the late rounds makes the NHL, but it's at least a positive sign that the Oilers goaltenders seem to be developing in the right direction.

Hopefully in time, the Oilers will be flush with options in the crease. For now, Jonsson, Vinni, and Day are all looking like decent prospects.
